Deadlines and requirements
These notes follow the public pages linked below. They are a reading guide, not a legal opinion and not a promise that a property is due on a particular day. The utility notice for the address controls.
Testing intervals in the county code
Miami-Dade County Code, Chapter 32, Article VIII, says non-residential and multi-family assemblies on a service larger than 2 inches are tested at least annually by a certified tester. Residential assemblies on a service of 2 inches or less are tested at least every two years.
The same section says the first routine test is due within 12 months of installation for non-residential customers and within 24 months for residential customers. If a test finds defects, the tester notifies the customer and the department within five days, and the code says defects must be repaired within 35 days of the department receiving the report, with a retest by the end of that period.
What the department tells customers
Miami-Dade Water and Sewer says certain backflow prevention assemblies are tested on installation and annually by a certified backflow prevention assembly tester. Read the code section above where a property is a smaller residential service, because the ordinance uses a two-year interval there.
The directory page on this site copies the department's certified-tester PDF. The department publishes that directory so customers can find testers. This site does not treat the directory as an endorsement.
