Deadlines and requirements
These notes follow the public pages linked below. They are a reading guide, not a legal opinion and not a promise that a property is due on a particular day. The utility notice for the address controls.
If you received a notice
The City of Tampa says a letter titled "Important: Notice to Test Backflow Prevention Device" means the device is due for testing. The customer arranges a certified technician within 30 days of receiving the letter.
The tester must submit results to SwiftComply within seven calendar days of the test. The city also says certified results are due to the Tampa Water Department within seven calendar days of the testing date.
The city does not pick the tester
Tampa says it does not recommend or endorse any tester or company. The list is there so customers can find testers. The customer decides who to hire and checks qualifications. The city says it does not review the skills, insurance, or quality of the testers on the list.
For installation questions, Tampa lists Construction Services at (813) 274-3100. For annual test-result questions, it lists the Field Quality office at (813) 231-5265.
